I Am THAT Little Pig!My business has been registered and open since 2016. I've had some ups and downs, and lots of disappointments, but I still have faith that I have something that is worth nurturing. In order to offer a workshop, I would need to rent space. At first, it was a matter of finding space. Then, after I found a handful of choices, I held my workshops close by, marketed them as best I could with the little resources I had, and then hoped for the best. So, here is what happened; Those who came to my workshops were most pleasantly surprised, and most of them have been following my business. Awesomeness. Right? I agree! The trouble was that only a handful of people came. Sometimes a handful was 1 or 2. I didn't have a minimum, because I am not in this to get rich. I want to reach people who will find what I am offering, and then reap the benefits! My problem came from having to rent a space for 3 hours, and then not to be able to cover my expenses. I hung in there for awhile, with the mindset, "if you build it, they will come". Well, there was so much more I wanted to offer! I wanted to encourage people to come and try this or that, at very little cost. Can you see where this is going? YUP. The only one who was spending money on a regular basis was me. Not that I really minded, I truly thought, and still do, that these beautiful people are out there, and they will come! ![]() In 2016, ...have I mentioned that I also had moved to a new town, and I had retired from my job with the public school system? And in 2016, I began to max out my credit cards. Ugh. ![]() Finally, in 2018, I realized (with the help of a great Job Coach) that what I really needed was to have consistency. How can I possibly get people interested and engaged, when I'm only offering workshops once in a blue moon, and in different places? So, I entertained the idea of opening up a BRICK AND MORTAR business. Hence, the PIG reference. I'm hoping that this makes me the SMART little piggy! Check back in a few months for the answer to that.
